Baby's going under the knife Monday

Guess my luck is running out. Peaches is giving me the infamous "selflevel suspension inactive" nag, so I'm taking her in on Monday. She's sitting pretty low now too, with the front end especially sagging, and the ride feels arthritic. Even with the aero kit I can usually clear those little curbs in the parking lot but tonight I went ka-runch! right over one. Ouch! I'm afraid to look.

I hope the warranty covers this and the stealer doesn't claim my suspension system is really a lamp.

Yah...you'll be wanting to remove all the "lamps" from your suspension...

That sucks, best of luck on this one:thumbup:

Ok, got a call from the service guys. Turns out the suspension warning message is caused by a dead suspension control unit, which causes the "sinking" effect and the jarring ride. They also found a leaking differential and blown brake sensors up front. Bad news is the control unit has to be ordered so Peaches is in protective custody until Wednesday. The good news is all this work is covered under warranty, including the rental.

I was really prepared to get bent on this, especially after just plunking down $850 on a set of Scorpions. Whew!

Aren't warranties great?

Warranties are great indeed. But I guess they want to cut their losses. The service manager called back saying the differential leak was not as big a problem as they thought. The big leak is the rear washer system. Somehow the connections fell apart and it's been leaking fluid inside the vehicle and then draining out underneath. All that has to be replaced. He proceeded to insinuate how that's my fault because I installed the Sirius module myself. Nope. Dealer did. Then he opined that I must have done "some work on the back of the car" to cause the damage. Nope again. Only people to fool around back there was the dealer when they tried unsuccessfully to fix the trunk lid rattle. (I fixed that myself after reading about it here.) So, Wolfgang finally gave up and went back into his hole.

Seems kinda fishy to me .

To me too. They probably misdiagnosed the differential problem and tried to come back at me with a charge item. Denied!

Just make sure by checking things out back there when you get'er back. There haven't been a couple others on here who have had replaced diff's before.

Which stealer are you taking it to?
