Modbug...damn it!
Just as I thought my Modbug had gone away for a few months THIS SPECIAL pops up! Grrr!! So how hard is this to install?? LOL
Easy...
Initially this mod is EXTREMELY easy to perform (if you don't mind keeping your iPod in the rear of the vehicle). However, it gets a bit more difficult if you are looking to run the wires to the front of the vehicle to keep the unit close by (although not needed as the steering wheel controls will still allow you to control your iPod tracks along with 6 playlists). I got this mod before I even had the X5 delivered...LOVE IT!!!

I'd definitely want the iPod in the front of the vehicle....
it's not hard at all.. I'm sure the fellas at the DC meet will be more than happy to help you out!!

The iceLink simply plugs into the 2 CD changer plugs in the rea cargo area. Running the cable up front is a task of running the cable underneath the carpet and various trim pieces; it's mostly fairly easy work, but time consuming. Do a search on "iceLink installation" to find the archived articles. You can hide it in the console or mount it on the dash. Lots of folks experienced with this one, so you'll have plenty of advisors. Regards, Mike |

P.S. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA @ your custom title!! |
Wow, no negative comments from the peanut gallery! ;) Anyhow, I would say go for it. I just got one and have been itching to install mine and have it wired to the center console storage bin.

It's doable, but it requires tearing apart the top compartment to get the wiring into the phone compartment including completely removing the console, taking part the console door and the hinges, yada yada yada. A lot of work. But it could be done.
And I just bought the back-up camera. :tsk: Have you seen Jeff's Ipod install ?
I intalled mine in the front and the 60Gb Video Ipod fit perfectly into the center ashtray. I don't smoke so this is not a problem :). I believed Tom also has the IceLink version that you can keep your CD changer or watch video on the NAV. I have the first one. The installation is quite simple and you don't need to take out the center console at all.

Is anyone going to have the tools, etc needed to install this for me in the cell phone compartment at the DC Meet?
We will now. ;)
LOL damn it...I told myself "no more mods until after I sell my Jeep." So much for keeping promises!
There'll be an oven there and a certified installer too, so go ahead and get Angel Eyes!
