My latest mod - what do you think??
SMG Steering wheel
I know it has been done many times before, but this has to deserve some feedback - cost me a bloody fortune!! (£1200 in total - all BMW parts except the wiring loom which was purchased from 'Mr. Paddleshift'). Was going to fit the thing myself, but couldn't be bothered - chucking it down with rain and thought I'd pay for my local $tealer to do it for me - they charged 2 hours labour. Quite surprised that an authorised BMW centre would fit a non-BMW wiring loom.... Anyway, here is the pick - http://www.members.lycos.co.uk/bmwx5/CIMG0115.JPG What do you guys think???? I'll tell you what I think - a great mod. Gripping this wheel is much better than the standard sport wheel - this is softer leather, chunckier etc etc. The paddle shift is a bonus  |

Many have said that the mod was of more benefit with a trans. software upgrade. But if you have a 4.4 - should be a great mod to have. |
nice

Yeah the mod works out at about $2000. Don't forget, I've moved from an M3 and really got used to that steering wheel. The X5 one was too hard - I just prefer the softer leather. I had no intention of the paddle shift, until I started reading some of the threads here and thought I may as well pay a little more and have it - rather than just get a non-paddled M3 wheel. The airbag cost more than the frigging wheel though :tsk: , so that bumped up the price big time. I am now stuck with the old wheel (well, not that old - 2 months), multi-function with airbag and slip ring. I'll probably ebay it. |
