Well boys and girls, today was the day. 132s and Diamaris are on! I haven't really had the chance to drive 'em yet, just the local roads around town. The steering feels different, not sure how to describe. Noticed a slight skip on tight turns. I will find the ideal exit ramp this evening and report back tomorrow. I know - useless without pics - here goes...

I know. Smart minds think alike.

Roc3b 04-18-2006 04:30 PM

I think the running boards look much better with those shoes. IMO.

Thunder22 04-18-2006 04:30 PM

A good test will be the CBX, Belt or the FDR :)

Congrats, they look good :)

ncx 04-18-2006 04:31 PM

Friggen awesome! That is a great color for the 132's and the RB's. Very tastefully done!

MY2NDM3 04-18-2006 04:36 PM

Very nice..

I've got those same shoes and they really look great. Good luck:thumbup:

cmyX6go 04-18-2006 04:38 PM

OK guys, opinion. Look at the third pic down, should I put on the titanium mirror trim?

nahhhh leave it, in fact, i think it would look better if you put the blackout/shadow trim (sport edition) around the windows. (not that it looks bad now, i just like the blackout/shadow trim better)

Wagner 04-18-2006 04:41 PM

Looks Good

fln8tive 04-18-2006 04:41 PM

Wow...it looks great! And very familiar for some reason...

LeMansX5 04-18-2006 04:41 PM

:wow: Looks great! Titanium trim kit will add to it. Laura is dressing up her X5 for the meet. ;)

I thought about it but the chrome trim grew on me, I think it sets off the color nicely. The Sterling in the sports package looks much darker.

Nah....

Roc3b 04-18-2006 04:52 PM

I think that it just needs tint.

Your X looks really good overall!

X5Jay 04-18-2006 05:07 PM

Looks great Laura - finally! I vote for no mirror trim too - kinda like the black with your color. She looks nice & clean & shiny too! Also, if you really want to feel a positive handling difference, go for the camber plates - they really make a difference in the corners. I notice that the steering is just a tad heavier whenever I switch back to my summer tires - same as yours exactly, but I like the heavier steering feel - gives the vehicle a bit more substance. Enjoy your new shoes & congrats!

vinuneuro 04-18-2006 05:13 PM

This is the reason I love sterling gray so much. Looks fantastic :2thumbs: .

...and leave the mirrors alone.

No more mods! I HAVE to stop now. I lease the damn thing. I justified the running boards, then my brother, Mr. BMW purist, said get the wheels and he'd ebay them for me when the X goes back. I can go on forever. And by the way, thanks, heavier is the word I was looking for to describe the difference in the steering. So when you coming down to wax and clay me...

My goodness - I'd love to wax and clay you - maybe we'll even have some time to detail your X a bit while we're at it! ;)

I suppose if it's leased the camber plates would be a loss when you turn the car in - wouldn't be worth the labor to remove them. Anyhow, those phat Diamaris on those sexy wheels make a significant improvement on their own... The car looks just great!

Looks awesome.

The Style 132's and aluminum running boards, combined with the Sterling Grey, are very hot looking. Not that looks matter...:D

I agree with the other folks: I'd hold off on the titanium mirror trim. Nice presentation, just the way it is.

Thanks everbody! I can't play with you anymore. I'm out of control. I was just looking at my gauges and thought those gauge rings are the ticket. Question - I read here that the install will void the warranty. What if the $tealer does the install...

JV - I will check the dash tag tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I already put 132s on there.

MD - giving old Rod a plug there too huh...my kind of guy. I was looking for a Faces CD Saturday, had this urge to hear Am I losing you. At least I know the music you guys talk about. I'm lost with the youngins...

Ok seriously now..I can feel the grab of the Diamaris, big difference from 18" Michelins that were stock. I also feel everything else alot more, seams in the road, bumps etc. Steering is heavier but not a chore, you feel more connected I guess.

Yea the steering is definately heavier with the larger wheels. But the look makes up for the extra effort.

I too say them are very nice wheels. But I am bias as my X5 has the same 132's. :)
I am happy for you that you choose the 132's - they are so nice and probaby the nicest 19" wheels for the X5.
ummm - I think I just wrote the above somewhere else. Sorry - But I am a cut and paste guy.

HOT DAYUM, girl!! that ride is shweet!

DC may be possible. is there a link with more info? dh and i love going for the weekend.

ETA: i.need.to.stay.away.from.ebay.

are your running boards OEM? i can't get them right now...darn. hehe...
also, i like how your front lights look like mine, yet, you have the clear side lights (i just ordered them for $18 bucks!).

i was a bit concerned since i purchased the clear tail lights & the clear side markers as well. for a moment i thought my front lights would look whack.

Thanks Black Beauty..
Yes the running boards are OEM, just got them a few weeks ago. This mod thing is addicting. As far as the clear side lights, she came like that. Not sure if it's a 4.4 vs 3.0 thing or if they changed them when they did the face lift, the guys could tell you.

SG - thanks for the link to DC

The challenged one

blackbeauty 04-22-2006 08:18 PM

i know yours is factory. i guess what i meant is, your front lights have amber at the corners right?

mine do. i was wondering about the overall look of my truck with the clear side reflectors and the original front lights with amber...that is, until i saw your pictures.

and yes, the mod thing is VERY addicting. what's worse is the weather here today... making today an interent shopping day!

cmyX6go 04-22-2006 08:25 PM

Just wait, you'll be hooked on this place. I don't know which is worse, the mod thing or be addicted to X5 World. A lot of funny stuff goes on here. I find myself waking up in the middle of the night and logging on to make sure I didn't miss anything. At least the only cost is dragging my ass in the morning from being on too late.

I'm in NYC, weather here is nasty too. It's pouring out. I had the AC on Thursday and back to heat today. Brrrrr

The side indicators became clear with the facelift, but they have the egg-yolk till you change the bulbs.:) There goes another mod.
