What are the exact differences between 550 and 4.8 engines?

I'd like to revisit this question.. with your permission! :)

I know that the x5 4.8 engine will bolt on.. but there are differences with the emission system..

Anyone knows for sure how to go around it?

I have a 2004 545i and a X5 4.8 engine from the X5.

What can I do to make it work? Any pictures of the setup on a 550? The VOB dealer could not help..

It's gotta be retrofittable!
