arrgghhh... Mine just died tonight. It was the original battery: I have had the 3.0 x5 since October 2000.
I keep reading about folks replacing their batteries with "sealed" ones to avoid the venting systerm. But based on things I have been reading on the net, I don't think this is a good idea. Apparently, there are gases produced/released from the battery, and since this battery is inside the car, as opposed to under the hood, passengers would be exposed to these unhealthy gases. Anyhow, I am no expert, but I would stick with vented ones... Has anyone installed a diehard one on a 2001 3.0 X5? |
If the battery is SEALED, where are the gases being produced/released from the battery?
|
LOL... True. I guess when they say it is sealed, they probably mean sealed to the point that absolutely no gases will escape from it.
Call me stupid, but I am still sticking with the vented ones. BTW, just in case, my post was not intended to say that folks have been doing the wrong thing. I just wanted to throw the gas stuff out there since I had been reading about that. No harm intended, really. On the contrary, I thought this would be good for folks to consider. |

Is there any other option for a replacement battery. I don't have a Batteries Plus in my area. Only Napa, Autozone, etc...
