Need help!! X5 3.0 Cooling problem!!

Yesterday I was driving and I heard a pop come from the hood I pulled over to find the raidiator tank had a split on the side. I purchased the part for $86.00, Is this something I can install on my own?? Has this happened to anyone any help will be appreciated! Thanks.. Please send pics if you have them on how to remove and install new tank. Thanks

installing it on your own depends how mechanically inclined you are. its a simple procedure. just disconnect all hoses, and remove it. install the new radiator, reconnect the hoses and fill with coolant.

but i would be more interested in finding out why the radiator was split. check the water pump, the thermostat, hoses, etc... something caused the pressure(or backpressure) overload...
