Service Indicator Lights (8/00)
Hi, I need to reset my service indicator lights and i have a 8/00 production X5. I did some reading and noticed that the pre october 00 X5's are a bit tricky to do. My question was I have an OBD II connector for my X5 and some software I can hookup my laptop to. Does anyone know if there is a way to reset the service indicator via this method? (i have no problems resetting check engine). Thanks for the help

I don't believe it can be done via the OBD-II port. There are instructions in this article that describe how to do it without buying a reset tool. It's easy to do with a short piece of wire - http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/e...ts-bmw-x5.html

Thanks for the reply, and just to make sure (scared of screwing something up) 'a jump of pins' just means i need to connect pin 19 & 7 with a short piece of wire for the described 5-6 seconds.

As I recall, you keep the connection there a bit longer for an Inspection reset, but it's the same principle. |
I tried resetting the SIA on my 2003 X5 but I must not have done it right because I still have 1 orange bar showing but now the SES light is on too. I did see the END SIA message. I can't seem to repeat the procedure. When I turn the key to pos 1 while holding down the odo button, nothing happens. Any suggestions?
