I BEEN USING MY R5 /FCX II Scan/Reset Tool for BMW , I GOT THIS GODE TABLE 0F WITH CODE 8C Map controlled thermostat circuit /control ? any one know what i need to do :confused:

4.4 or 3.0? 4.4 is more likely to thow that code, check the plug on the thermostat, it's got a "characteristics Control", beats me what that actually does but I think you are unplugged or you have the unit failing.

Thanks, today I went to the bmw service center they used there computer and found the same code, also the found fin crack in coolant tank making more pressure and less coolant making the thermostat in open poison to cool the car , now my x is ok and free from bad codes :thumbup:

I have the same reset tool (R5 FCX). I have a 2003 4.6is S3. 2 questions, it doesn't reset the oil service meter...any one know why? Also, I also go the 8C code off the OF table. I reset the fault and they started it up, shut it off, check the faults, and the 8C was back....do I need to replace the thermostat?
