Newbie to the X5 World

This past saturday I purchased my first BMW X5. I have never owned a BMW and am not really sure what to expect from this car. I have had Honda's and my most recent was a 2002 Mercury Mountaneer, which I must say I was very happy with since I am 6' 1" and weigh 265 lbs. But I am very surprised with how comfortable I feel in the X5, lots of room even for big people. I have been getting acquainted with my X5 and would like to know how I can tell if I have the phone feature installed. If I were to have it how can I set it up with my Motarola Razr. I have checked the X5World site and done searches on the Internet, but have not really found anything that explains how to know if one has this feature installed and how to set it up with your cell.
If anyone can guide me I would really appreciate it, Thanks in advance

Do you have Bluetooth integration in your X??
I you are not sure, call your local dealer and find out what options you got w/ it.

And BTW :xoutpost:

I purchased it as a used car and not from a BMW Dealer. Would they still be able to tell me what features the car has?

I am sure if they run your VIN they would pull out all the X's info.

I did notice that on the Console and a on the steering wheel there are buttons with the word Phone and R/T. I pressed both to see if anything would happen, but nothing.

Are there any How To's posted which walk you through the steps of setting up the phone.

I also have those buttons, if just means your X is prewired for the option. But you might want to be 100% sure if you have the bluetooth option. Take your X to a local dealer and ask them if you have this option, and if not ask how much it would cost to have it (if you really want it).
Good luck..

Maybe runnig your VIN through CarFax will give all the options your X has..

Went there but you have to pay to get a history on the car. :-(

How about providing the details about your new X5, including year? That can help us help you with your BT project. Several people here have retrofitted the BT module.

Have you press the Menu button and Select telephone...then one of the following messages may appear in the display.. 1. PHONE CONNECTED? In your case you don't.. 2. Loading PhoneBook. in the second case you dont either..

Shoot me the VIN and an email address and I will run a Carfax for you.

the_drifter_00 05-10-2006 03:02 PM

I checked CarFax but you have to pay to get more info. I am cool with not having the Bluetooth feture I have the Bluetooth ear piece. I figured i would have been nice if it was already installed, but I guess the previous owner didn't want to spring for the Blue Tooth feature nor the CD Changer. Maybe in the future.
