Cloudy area on on the hood? Common problem?
 

Well on my 02 Steel gray X5's hood, there is a nickel sized area that is cloudy. It seems as if a acidic chemical spilled on it and caused the discoloration. I also noticed the same problem on my friend's 02 oriental blue 325i. Could this be fixed by the dealer under factory warranty. I'll try to get pics when I get home.

If this stain is the result of a chemical put on the paint then it is not a BMW warranty issue. It is not a failure of the paint, but someone or somethings effect on the car.

Best bet, call your insurance company and see what it costs to paint the hood.

Oh I was just wondering if it was a common problem.

I don't believe it is common.
