Does anyone know if the headlight untis on these x5's can be replaced via the plastic lense only? Do you have to to acutally get a new head light unit just to replace the plastic lenses?

The units are designed to be replaced as a complete unit. However, if you have a 2002 or older then you can bake the headlights in order to separate the plastic lense from the housing. However, even if you do separate them I don't believe that BMW sells the lenses as a separate part item.

Hella do not even list the part# in europe. I kept my old Halos just in case I needed to do a replacement. The halo units sell (if they sell at all) for a few $$$ on e-Bay. Last I remember was sitting dead with zero bids at $15.
