British X5's
I am currently in London, and I am seeing lots of X5's on the roads. Most of them seem to be gasoline-powered (oops, I mean petrol), not diesel.
Anyway, it reminds me of home a bit. ;) |
And they are driving on the wrong side. Enjoy your visit. I like it there.

Hpoe your having a good time. If you see anything interesting take some pictures. Does your i870 work??

I had heard the British custom derived from the days of the horse and carriage. You mount and dismount from the "near" (left) side of a horse. Thus, to keep your leggings clean, when dismounting, you'd move to the sidewalk to dismount. Clean leggings. Never mind you hadn't bathed or flossed your teeth in three weeks, at least your leggings were manure-free. |

Look out for me! Black X5 3.0i with titanium grilles and Style 132 alloys!
Enjoy your trip and sorry about the weather!! Although its sunny today so make the most of it! Go up on the London Eye if you get the chance! |
Welcome, Doc! Ill be down in London this week as well...Ill be the only guy who looks "normal" in a baseball cap...Oh yeah..Ill be in the X5 with the steering wheel on the "other" side....;)
Please excuse the current weather situation however..I think even the UK guys here would agree when I say this is even bad for for England!!! Its been raining for days!! Except today of course... |
By looking "normal" do you mean turned round backwards and accompanied by some shorts, white socks and nikes?
And yes, the weather is crap. Believe it or not, several water companies in the UK have imposed a drought and banned the use of hosepipes - headline in paper yesterday was "WETTEST DROUGHT ON RECORD" |
Rain or not, we have enjoyed ourselves tremendously! We have done the London Eye, Tower of London, Buckingham, Windsor, and much more. Everyone here is very friendly and kind to us, even when we are lost American tourists.
|
Glad you had a good time!! London is a terrific city and everyone should try to get here at least once in their life. Glad to hear you had a positive experience with us Brits too!

Mmmm.....good luck!!
Whatever you do, do NOT attempt to speak French to them. No matter what people say to you about "trying to speak the local language", the Parisians will HATE you for it if your French is crap. Go to the Louvre (if you can get in what with the Da Vinci Code etc), Eiffel Tower, Pompidou centre and whatever else you can cram in. Watch out on the Metro for pick pockets! |

don't forget the white trainers or is it sneakers to you guys.;) |
Brit 5's
London does have a high proportion of petrol engined 5's, most other areas of the UK have a higher proprtion of diesels. BMW sell 75% diesel in the UK (X5's). With the price of fuel the extra consumption above the petrol engine, it is significant. As well as that it has more torque than the V8. Last week on a 2000 mile round trip to Lake Garda in Italy, I managed 32 mpg, not bad for 2 tonnes at euro 130 kph speeds and up over the alps. I'm impressed anyway.
rain has gone off, but due again tomorrow. Sorry but I prefer Paris to London. More exciting to drive in as well. |
You should have given us more notice that you was in London maybe a few our X5 World members in the UK could have met up for a beer.
