My X5 is stolen
I bought a brand new X5 3.0d and one month later he's gone:tsk:.
Last week i parked on a parking lot and two hours later when I came there was nothing. The insurance will pay it out and I must buy another Bmw,but I will install alaram or something.Last year in my town was stolen about 24 X5:mad:in only three months, the police have found some cars in Serbia. How is it in the USA,are X5 popular by the car mafia?Does anyone know how can someone start the X5 without the car keys:rolleyes: Sorry about my bed english,I'am new here, and I'am from Europe |
Very sorry to hear that! No clue how to start the Bimmer without a key.

Sorry to hear that. Many SUV are being stolen and then are sold at ridiculous price in Roménia, Sérvia and so on.
Look at this one: http://www.mobile.de/SIDgNwOJ9wWdc8l...11111209438446& This one is in CZ, it´s mention the car is from 2001 and was facelift to 2004 model :tsk: Doesn´t smell too good. Price seems low for a car with these specs. J.Seven |
if they really want your car, there is nothing you can do about it.
One month ago the x5 (security vehicle, kevlar etc..) of David Beckham(Football player Real Madrid) was also stolen and he had the finest security system, it took the mob...3 minutes to steal it... |
Sounds like a stolen to order deal..They are running rampant now..Especially Japanese make SUV/cars...Ive seen some ugly things in my little stint as dealing with cars
..Cars with no VIN's, so they get new registrations as imports, etc.... |

You think that these parts are stolen? I heared from some my friends, that the people who work in the germany plant for bmw,are duplicating the X5 keys and then they sell it to the car mafia,i also saw some X5 with broken lock cylinders on the doors, and I think u can drive away the car without the key. |
An X5 cannot be "hotwired" without a key programmed for the vehicle.
Trust me. I install car starters and i've tried almost everything to start my X5 without the key . X5's that are getting stolen are probably being towed to a location then someone somehow programs new keys to work in the vehicle. Anyway you look at it , someone who works or has worked in a bmw service center is involved. I wonder if it would be possible to locate your car through the GPS navigation system...........General Motors can track all there vehicles with Onstar |
Sorry to hear it. I had me M3 broken into a few months back and that really bummed me out. Can't imagine what I'd do if she got stolen :(

Sorry to hear about your stolen car. I had things stolen out of my car, and I was so mad and upset, feel so violated. So it must be 100x worse to have the whole car stolen! Hope you get another one and enjoy it longer!

They took a Leather jacket, a digital camera (the one that does not work is the replacement) a pair of sun glasses and a laptop. Got all my money back and then some from insurance. The funny thing is that this area is not known for theft... i mean at all. I never even used to lock my doors at night. But there was a rash of theft in the area. I guess about a month ago now, a guy down the street from me caught some guy in his truck, when he asked him what he was doing he said he was looking for a place to sleep. But, all the guys stuff from the truck was lying on the ground and he was in the glovebox when he found him. So he dragged him from his truck and kicked the crap out of him. And then called the police. I am not one for violence unless I am protecting myself or someone I know. But this guy had it commin. Never got any of my stuff back, but I guess when they went to his house they found a ton of stuff. Sweet justice, the guy is behind bars now! |

Of course if they find the valet key they can nab your X.
One thing that was happening up here in Canada was thieves were looking for car starter antennas on higher end vehicles with the key immobilizers. They would break in and try to locate the factory key in an aftermarket car starter module needed to start the car by remote. Now I tell the customer I have to cut the end of there key off so if a thief finds it , it wont be able to be used in the ignition. |

for what I heard that will only hold them back about 15 minutes, if you disconnect the battery the code will reset to 000. nothing is going to stop a flat bed truck from taking your X:tsk: the best thing to do is install a gps tracker, and to be honest if they ever take my X and i hope they don`t but if they do i will not want it back.. |
what if you have BMW assist? They (BMW) says that the car can be positioned within minutes...when you get into an accident..and the airbags deploy they automatically send ambulance, when you don't answer...maybe they should put sensors in the doors, and when they get opened without remote or key and with force the police should be notified immidiately!

On X5 World home page it tells you how to programme a key as long as you have a working key. I found instructions on how to do it even if you dont have a working key. I assume you would still have to get the key cut so it would turn in the ignition.
BMW Key Re-Programming Information Programming your BMW Remote Keys There are two procedures to re-program the remote central locking keys. The first procedure requires you have one working key. If you don’t have any keys that are matched to the car’s computer system, then you will need to use procedure 2. Procedure 1 1. Get in to the car and close all the doors. 2. Switch the ignition on and turn it back off quickly. (within 5 seconds) to start the process. The next part must take place within 30 seconds. 3. Remove the 1st key. 4. Hold the key in the direction of the remote receiver antenna. 5. Press and hold the unlock button and then press the lock button 3 times, then release the unlock button and the doors will lock which then confirms the operation. 6. Quickly repeat steps 4 and 5 for any further keys you wish to program. If this does not work, then try doing the keys in opposite order. (Key 2 before key 1). Procedure 2 If the above does not work or if you do not have a working remote please use the following: 1. Place the key in the ignition and turn it to position 1 five times very quickly. 2. Then remove the key from the ignition. 3. Press and hold the unlock button then press the lock button 3 times, then release the unlock button. 4. If you want to do another key do step 3 on that key within 30 seconds. 5. Turn the ignition back on to complete the procedure. Both these procedures are used by BMW dealers to re-program keys, both for themselves and customers – they can charge up to £40 for this short process. Both these methods have been tested several times on a number of models (including the E46 3 Series and E39 5 Series). On every test the procedures worked first time. If you don’t manage to code the key(s) the first time, wait a bit then try again. |
Still wondering how they do it? Watch "Gone in 60 seconds". Amazing.

if someone jacked my car, and i found the guy, there wouldnt be anything left but maybe a finger so they could identify the guy...i bristle at the thought of someone jacking an x5...go jack a honda or another ricer.
