Wheel vs Tires

What can a set of 22x9.5 wheels' tire size be...? or the biggest it can fit on? I was thinking about 305/40/22, cuz that size its on sale in tirerack for $169 each ! Pirellis !
Would there be clearance issue if I put 22 all around? or do I need it to be stagger? Thanks guys

The 305 tyre will be way too high for the X5!Dont think anyone ever fitted here! You may get away with it on the rear but it may rub on the front! You can also forget about lowering your X5 if you fit these!
The correct size tyre that will keep your X5 with oem measurements is the 295/30/22 but unfortunately you will have side wall issues as this tyre is too thin. Most guys here ,for a practical reason go for the 285/35/22.

isn't the 305 the width of the tire and the 40 the height? Or were you just refering to the tire in general?
You think clearance will be an issue...it looks like the car sits pretty high on its "feet" even with 20" installed...or is this an optical illussion?
I have 18" right now (factory) and can't make up my mind..BMW are tough cars to mod..the original rims 19" and 20" look the best, maybe the 20" ACS.
Other question is anything above 20" not going to make the ride less comfortable?

305 is the width and the 40 a percentage of the tyre width.

The X5 on oem 20s actually sits 0.35" lower than with 17,18 or19s,so it is an optical illusion since you are seeing more wheel and less tyre!

20" is alredy less confortable than 19",so obviously the bigger the wheel, the less confortable your X5 will be because you have less tyre .

It is arguable but a lot of members prefer the oem 20" as an upgrade,if you want to go higher then the 22" ACS seem to be one of the preferred candidates!I have oem 20",and if I ever feel like an upgrade ,I will go with the ACS.
