Well I was over at Menards and Homedepot by my house and checked but they don't have them. I know the size is 8 x 1/2 but they only have them as zinc plated:rolleyes: . Oh well, I'm off to the boat store.

Finally got them at a marine shop. What I got was the SS oval head 8 x 1/2 and the SS flat head 8 x 3/4. The flathead 8 x 3/4 is nice because when on the pedal you can't see the screw but the problem is that it's 3/4". Now the 8 x 1/2 is what is suggested but looks a bit short on top of that, it has the oval shape top. Anything wrong if I use the larger screw?

Just screw them in. Why be so paranoid with a cheap and simple mod? It's not like you are going to remove it later on; or are you?

That flathead screw might be a little too long - check the thickness of the plastic footrest to make sure. If it fits okay, then you have a choice between either type of screw head. At this point, whatever looks best to you is the best choice.

Everybody has their own definition of a good screw.

If you prefer the head of the longer screw, just cut it shorter.

Thanks for the tips guys. I used the longer screw and it was actually perfect. Not too long. Thanks again fellas!
