Sorry to hear, and please let us know what the outcome is.

Hopefully HRE will take care of this issue promptly.

Wow. To state the obvious, that is not good. HRE is such a vaunted name in wheels you'd expect much better from them, especially given the high price. Let's hope they step up here.

met my detailer today....he repairs HRE's all day long and told me...when rebolting the bolts...they must be torqued at 5lbs/ft and anything over torqued can cause that to happen. that is one scenario....you say you bought them off someone...so maybe they had it removed. that or one was loosened and it caused the rest to loosen. (BTW) Are those 3 piece wheels?, if the bolts are just their for style, and not really a 3 piece wheel you can drive on the rim.

Hmm, I had always assumed they were 3 piece but they may be 2 piece wheels. Funny how I'm wishing they were 2 piece now!

I got a reply on E46Fanatics from someone stating the torque was 27 lb-ft? That's a far cry from 5 lb-ft! He says he's the operations manager for a new forged wheel company and that all the manufacturers use the same bolts. Would you mind confirming that with your guy if you talk to him again. TIA!

very interesting to see that they are banned from SCCA racing, maybe that is why i am a huge FIKSE fan.

Sorry to hear. Hope HRE take care of it.

It was a thread started on audiworld. Depends on who you believe. This post on Corvette forum states that the cracked wheel was an HRE knock-off and not authentic. I've also read that it was a Kenesis wheel and not HRE. All rumors with no facts to back any of it up.

:iagree: i also they were banned from a cracked rim on a porsche, but it was from the same kid that wanted them and couldn't get it for one reason or another, i also hear rumors that its the reason why they expanded into the iforged line. but like you said...all rumors, and yet the only reported case. under torquing the bolts would not do any harm to the wheel besides make a rattling noise, over torquing is what causes them to flint off, that part is confirmed.
