Brakes STILL squealing after new install !!
Ok so recently I replaced my front pads and rotors because they were below the minimum thickness (pads & rotors). I got new EBC rotors and EBC green stuff SUV supreme pads.
Liberally applying copper grease (anti-squeal) paste to the backs of the pads and the wings, I did the install just over a week ago. To my disappointment the brakes are still squealing :banghead: , come to think of it they were squealing before the new install but I put this down to the warped rotors and worn pads. I checked the back pads and they are well within spec, I also removed the back pads and greased them to make sure. When the brakes are cold it doesn't happen, only seems to be when hot and braking at low speed. Anyone had the same problem? |
Did you bed-in your brakes after installing the new pads/rotors? If not, see http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm for a good article on the hows and whys for doing this.

Everyone has a different opinion... however I would not put on new pads without skimming the discs and allowing them to bed in properly, especially with new discs.
Squeal with new rotors pads sounds like vibration caused by poorly bedded pads...... |
I am not familiar with those pads, but here is an idea. My guess is the pads have no shims.
The trick on shimless pads is to remove the shim from your old pads and apply brake paste to the back of the pad, just enough to hold the shim on. Do NOT put any compound on the surfaces that come in contact with the caliper frame or piston. Second is what most people will forget, use plastilube on each surface on the caliper where the brakes ride. This will be the 4 “tracks” on the caliper frame. As a matter if fact they recommend shims on the EBC website http://www.ebcbrakes.com/QandA.html |
