Looking to buy an X5

first post!

:wavey: hi everyone... im considering picking up a used X5, been reading through some of the threads, and i just have a few questions:

is there anything to look out for? problems with the car? known issues after certain mileages?
are any years are better than others?

what mods are out there?
i'm mostly concerned with looks: wheels, body, interior

i would love to get angel eyes and xenons, i think i heard somewhere that the '03+ headlights need to be baked in order to open them for angel eyes, is this true? would i be better off buying an '02-?

i love the look of the painted spoiler underneath the exhaust, is that the 4.8 kit?

what are some good websites to start with?

As for the Angel Eyes, you DO NOT want an '03, they are impossible to bake open. You would want an '02 or earlier. If you do get an '03, you'll need to get a set of headlights from an '02 or earlier. The X5 got a facelift in '04 so those have AE's already but the headlights will not fit pre-'04 unless you change the lights, fenders, hood, etc...

X5 is a reliable car. No major problems from what I've read.

haha i meant websites to buy mods and stuff, i'd be getting a 3.0

i'd probably also be interested in putting on running boards, maybe fender flares, does anyone have a pic of what the car looks like with & without flares?

oh and if anyone cares, i drive an '03 M3 6MT in TiAg which I would be trading in for the X
