Brake Caliper Locked up on Highway!
On Saturday I was driving down to the dealership (BMW Gallery Norwood) to pick up a new cd changer...while driving my steering wheel started to shimmy left and right...I though it was the road so I changed lanes and it progressively got worse...pulled over checked tires for flats and then noticed my front right brake was very hot....I knew what the problem was immediately because last year after buying the X my left front caliper siezed on me...when i was doing 85 in cruise control....Luckily the new calipers were covered under CPO and they gave me both new front rotors and pads both times... I also had a problem with the "engine failsafe mode" coming on along with the dsc and brake light...they found that to be a faulty wheel angle sensor and they recoded it...anybody know exactly what the wheel angle sensor actually does? Well that was my Xciting weekend!

The wheel angle sensor is in the steering rack. It detects the angle the wheels are turned..

...and feeds it to the LKM to turn the lights.

gregx5 we talking Norwood MA. ? I have a X5 3.0 03 model as well where did you get your Mods at ?
|
Yes Norwood, MA...
I bought the AFE intake from the group buy on the WORLD, and my exhaust from a former member of the World...The guage rings from Bimmian...Rims and clear corners from ebay, but tires from Town Fair Tire in quincy. I had my friend come pick me up on the highway when I was getting towed and he brought my stock intake and we switched it out b4 the tow truck came...just to be safe about warranty...but I think Norwood is pretty mod friendly..I also had my calipers painted red and they did not care. |
