my 03 3.0i is definately limited to 128 in fourth gear at about 4500-5000rpm when in steptronic.

my 04 X5 3.0d ran a little above 210kph... according to the speedo.

Code 0840 = Unlimited Top Speed

:iagree:
I have seen this on my print out that I got from my S.A.

I can't see myself going too fast, as I am too cheap to pay for gas.

Unlimited Top Speed (0840)

Read from a friend who printing out my VHR report at the dealer.

weird though it shows (2) sport Packages listed..
Codes: 0330 and 0ZSP might be the Sports Wheel.

I took my 03 x5 3.0 on the rte 95 N to hampton beach yesterday and clocked 110 mph I am curious how fast is a 3.0 sports addition on a X5 ??

126 on my 3.0i. it actually handled really well on the turn on I-87 and down the down hill stretch...and managed to get back to 60 before the u-turn ;-)

Sorry to resurrect the dead - but I was finally able to confirm the same on my "05 4.4 Sport" via the spec report on my vehicle - "unlimited top speed" for whatever that is worth - accounting for drag.

Service writer claims that new insurance regs may result in ECU recalibration to lower the top speed rating of the E70 and other new BMW products.

I believe the latter to be pure speculation at this point.

That's a fun route. I drive 95 about 4 days a week.

I once got the X5 to an indicated 129 mph. The 330xi has seen an indicated 135. According to my Garmin nüvi, my speedometer is about 3mph slow on the highway. If I set the cruise on 80, the GPS reads between 77 and 78.

153mph in 03 4.6IS Dinan S3. About a week ago some poor guy in black M3 wanted to give it a go, we were on 80e just past the Benica bridge. Almost no traffic, he shut down at around 140 (after about 5 miles of 130++), I shut it down shortly after, we came up on a couple of cars. I know my X had more left under the hood and I'm sure his M3 did too. When Dinan installed the software upgrade with the S3 package it removes the speed governor that BMW installs.

I'm sure the driver of the M3 didn't know what hit him:rofl:
