MB ML = ugly!

Saw one driving through center city philadelphia this morning. From the rear it looks just like a Kia Sorrento! VERY wimpy and VERY minivan looking. I can't wait to see how they dress up the M55 AMG version. I see no way in hell of making this thing look mean and fast. God bless the X5!

yeah, I saw one 2 days ago and I didn't like it. Looked too feminine. All the pics I saw before I actually saw it looked pretty nice.

I guess from the side it is OK, but damn that rear end, its horrible. Their main demo for that car had to be females anyway so maybe it will work out. I tend to see many more males driving X5's in comparison.

Speaking of ugly, the rental I received today was a Jeep Liberty. The engine wasn't bad, but it sure looks goofy. There are bright silver rivets that hold the fender flares in place and it looked ridiculous.

However, its probably still more manly than the new ML!

I wouldn't say they're ugly but you're right about the resemblance to the Sorento. There're rumour of the ML65 AMG which will no doubt put it on par (or at least close to) with the Cayenne TT.

Worry not guys as BMW will have the answer in the next generation X5. At least I hope so.

ml remind me of the later rx300. :dunno:

I don't think its that bad... I think it's kinda cool looking. The inside is nice.

:withstupi We went to an M-Class Tour event thingy last week, and I have to be honest -- I liked it. A lot. Wonderful craftsmanship, great details everywhere, and I like the looks. It is a nice car... very nicely done. Very luxurious... We were very impressed. The one thing that surprised me is its size. It's bigger than I thought... I did not test-drive it, but looks-wise, I think MB did a great job.

The inside is really cool. I like the, i guess you could call them beams running through the center console.

I think it's cool.. I wouldn't mind an ML500 for my next car in a few years' time. My best friend has an ML320 and it's so-so... But this new one looks promising.

I am test driving it on June 18th at the 2006 M-Class Road Rally and I will see what it has. :bustingup My friend invited me soon I took him up on the offer.

Let us know how it drives. That's what I wanted to do when we went to the Road Rally last week, but it was raining cats and dogs, and I did not want to get drenched going from the tent to the driving course... :p

I also went to the M Class Road Rally last weekend. I drove both the 500 and the 350 on both their auto cross course and proving course multiple times and I came away really liking the the new ML. Although I do agree with previous posts that the looks of ML are questionable.

Being an owner of the 3.0 X5 I must say the ML350 has way more power than the 3.0i X5. In fact I have to say now that I have put about 1,500 miles on my X5 I am really disappointed with the performance. If I had it to do over again I would get the 4.4i, as I find myself shifting my 3.0 step almost constantly (something I have never felt the need to do with any of my previous auto BMWs).

My 2 cents..

It hasn't got a gear lever !!!!!

Major omission IMHO :)
