Ok, I'm sold! Just hardwired my V1 this afternoon, and going to order the s1 tonight. Thanks!

My 5 year old 8500 is dying and I'm thinking about the V1/S1 or V1 w/their remote. $250 vs 39??

Question is, where do you 'hide' the V1? No good having the S1 if the officer sees the V1.

Well, you can't really hide the V1. However, the fact that it will not be lit up like a Christmas tree will make it less noticable. They are legal in most states, anyway, so it really doesn't matter much if it is seen.

I tucked mine up in the nook between the rear view mirror and the windshield. Less obvious there, too.

Go with S1.

My bro just got a valentine1 and it didnt work and he had to have it replaced for free. the new one works great though. Has anyone else ever caught a bad one. I just thought it must be rare for that to happen but you never know.

For those who need to keep a lower profile check out the belrx75pro plus. The remote display can be mounted almost any where. They also have a plus model that adds a few additional features.

I have to agree. This has been my only hold up in this V1/S1 purchase. If only I can hide the V1 out of sight somewhere I'd be sold. Then it would be as if the X5 came with a built in radar detector. Plus I can keep the dash and windshield clean of anything aftermarket which will help to cut down on promoting theft.

I've heard of some installing it in the rear seat headrests. I'd be curious as to how that worked out and would love to hear other ideas and installs. Can the V1 be taken apart and the sensors installed seperately into the front and rear bumpers? I'm sold on the product just not on where to put it in my X5.

You are taking it to the extreme there. If you can let us know. I believe you can not taking it apart due to frequency interence. If you feel the box it is a hard solid metal, which prevents from leaking any inteference with FCC.

I agree, I don't think the V1 will work that way, it is not a remote unit. The Bell and Escort units are true remote units. Taking them apart just allows you to relocate the display to where ever you want. The LED is the only thing that goes in the cluster.

Has anyone here installed this in the rear headrest? If so, I would be interested in seeing pics. I know you lose laser capability, but I would be willing to sacrifice that for this. I also have a K40 I took out of my old car, and was thinking of using that. Your thoughts?
