Btum Kit

Anybody used this kit yet? We are please to announce a revolutionary new product that allows customers with any CPT9000 hands-free phone system to update their vehicles to use Bluetooth® wireless technology with one simple device.

The Bluetooth® Upgrade Module (BTUM) is shaped exactly like the CPT9000 (Motorola V60 Series) phone and is installed into the phone cradle in place of the original CPT9000 handset. It provides the link between an approved Bluetooth® phone and the vehicle's original phone system. Up to 2 different phones can be paired with the BTUM; however, only one can be used with the system at a time.

I have an 01 X5 4.4i with the CPT9000 system, but when I bought the car the phone was missing. Not a huge deal since I got the car at a steal price. But I want to know if I can just buy a phone from the dealer, and put it in, but what do I do after that? Do I need to hook it up with a service company like T-mobile or Verizon etc................ Or what about this Upgrade you guys are talking about, can I just use this? Can someone Help me?.. Thanks...

The BTUM is the ticket for you if you can acquire one of the phones that work with the system (see this link: http://www.bmwusa.com/owners/bluetooth/phones).

This is relatively new. From what I can find, the service provider doesn't matter as much as having the right phone per the BMW compatibility list. I'm looking for mine later this week and will report back. It looks like a win/win for those who have a CPT9000 system installed but either 1) don't have access to the original phone or 2) want a low-cost upgrade to BT while still being able to use all the built-in functions of the CPT system, such as steering wheel controls and hands-free operation.

The Only Problem Iam Having Is The Phonebook Will Not Load Not Sure If The Numbers Have To Be Save To The Sim Card First.

Which phone are you using? I've read where some phones (like the Motorola V710, for example) were "decontented" by the carrier, in this case, Verizon. You'll find a wealth of info if you Google your phone brand and carrier and Bluetooth.

its the Nokia 6230 should be fine but wont load iam going to try copying numbers to sim and then reconnecting via the BTUM see what happens.

The web link doesn't specifically mention the Nokia 6230, but one of the notes pertaining to another phone states:

"Only entries in the Address Book will be accessible from your BMW. SIM Phone Book entries should be copied to the Address Book in order to be accessed from your BMW." Let us know how it works out after you copy the numbers to the SIM. Good luck!
