Just stick with the OEM filter.

When I visit the dealer I usually pick up 2-3 OEM oil filters at a time since I'm 90 miles away and prefer to change oil every 5k miles.

I typically only use BMW filters, which, I believe are made by Mann. However, here's something to ponder...I picked up a Purolator-branded filter at my local Advance Auto store and when I opened the box to have a look at it, I saw it was a Mann filter.

Sooooooo...theoretically, you can pick up a Purolator filter at Auto Zone that is the same as the Mann filter that is also labeled as a BMW OEM unit. It even comes with the gasket and crush washer for the oil pan bolt. Upon installation, it was indistinguishable from the OEM unit. It's worth a look if you're needing an oil change and you're 90 minutes from the closest BWM dealer.

mann. it's pretty much what you get despite what it says on the box.

Thank you to all, its pretty much what I thought... Thanks...

Mann, Mahle or Hengst are the ways to go, all are OEM. If you want the BMW box then you can swing by your dealer.
