BMW iPod adapter (Second generation) Anyone?

Hi all, does anyone use the second generation iPod adapter made by BMW, any comment? I have talked to the dealership and they said this new one has been improved, it works great compare to the first one. I also want to know if it supports different language. Thanks Alex

If you are referring to the new MOST iPod adapter, I don't think it's compatible with the E53 and E46.

I have talked to the dealership and they said this one will fit 2005 X5, am I missing something?

Well, as many have found, most dealers are not very well informed about the products they sell. They are probably blending the iPodYourBMW kit with the MOST interface. The former is what our E53's use and as far as anyone has heard, there is no upgrade of that kit. I am currently using it in my X5.

Check out this post on B'Fest. Also, I read the same thing in last month's "Roundel". This post on E90Post is from the guy who wrote the article for "Roundel".

Correct - the upcoming BMW-offered iPod adapter is intended for iDrive only and not the X5. We have you covered for your current model X5:

Tom, thanks for the info, the BMW parts people don't know much about this I guess. One thing I don't understand is, why do they make it for idrive only? How many BMW come with idrive? They do mention the second version replace the first one, the very first one is no longer available. What if you want to get the old version for an older BMW? It doesn't make sense, does it? :tsk:

That's because they lost that market to Dension already because the IpodyourBMW kit wasn't that good...

On many of the newer 5 series BMWs, you can get iDrive w/o NAV. I recently test drove a 550 w/ NAV and a 530 that had only iDrive. The whole time I was behind the wheel of the 530 I couldn't figure out why the screen looked so different. The screen is smaller and had only iDrive, so I would assume this would extend to the rest of the BMW line?

The 1st Generation iPod kit from BMW will still be offered, there is no reason to discontinue the kit when the new versions are released. Regardless, the DICE iPod kit is still a much better option for these vehicles.

According to the DICE website there isn't a kit for the 2006 4.4i X5 w/DSP w/NAV yet? Is this *really* true? I'm looking to get either this kit when available or get the AUX input installed. It amazed me that on a 60k+ car there is no CD player unless you get the changer. Dealer installed the CD changer but I really am itching to get the iPod hooked in.
