JCL,
Regarding the /5: I have a red toaster like the one in my sig photo (which is not my bike, I just like that photo). I got it just last fall -- 23,000 miles and excellent original condition. I've put Euro bars and Albert mirrors on it and replaced the mufflers with the original "cigar" style. After this summer's projects of rebuilding the front forks, replacing the rear suspension and adding a police solo seat, it will be a stylin' ride. I read a review recently of BMW's new K1200S--the new Bavarian crotch rocket. It was described as a "gentleman's sportbike." It struck me that an early 1970's review of the R75/5 described it in almost the same terms. The /5s are truly great classic bikes. You really appreciate old school stuff like vacuum carbs and ignition points after dealing with X5 gizmotronics. |
