Baby is getting new shoes - can't wait..
 

I currently have '06 X5 4.4 (all packages + navi + dsp) and don't think the style 183 wheels are as agressive as style 74 i had on my '04 X5 (stolen :mad:).. I just don't see the sportiness in 183s..

After reading the forums and reviews, I've settled to get new shoes for my baby. The 87s look hot and so do the 168s. After mutliple gallery views, I think 87s are better and have that "sporty" look I am seeking. They also pair well with the Toyo's.

New shoes were bought from AFS wheels (thru Ebay) and are arriving tomorrow and I gotta take them down to the stealer to install the pressure sensors and make sure they are balanced/etc.

Pressure sensors? I thought the tire inflation warning used the abs/dsc sensors to detect differences in rolling diameter due to underinflation. Or did that change for 06's?

I didn't think about that.. Per email from parts manager at my local dealer "The pressure sensor is attatched to the valve and goes on the inside of the rim"

can someone confirm or deny?

UPDATE: Just spoke to parts manager AND service manager. As of 2004 model, there is a separate pressure sensor which is in fact attached to the valve and it sends a radio signal to the "catcher" at the top of the wheel well.

Are you outside the North America? I didn't think RDC was available in US and Canada.

No sh*t, the stealer made a mistake, that would be a first. :tsk: But you still need to get it balanced.

Question - do I need to do anything when i install the new tires? like reset the TPM?

You shouldn't if the new tires are all properly inflated according to the sticker on the inside of the driver's door. Resetting is easy and instructions are in the manual if you need to do it. Take your tires to a shop with a roadforce balancer like a Hunter. It could make a big difference on the balance of larger wheels/tires.
