brake pads

I want to purchase some brake pads for my 2002 3.0i. Does anyone have any suggestions? What about performance/ sport brake pads? Would it be advisable to get ceramic or semi-metallic pads at all?

Axxis deluxe. No noise, no dust, and everyone on the forum swears by them. That's what I plan on getting for my X.

Where do you suggest purchasing them from?

I think I'm going to get them from here

That's where I got mine from. Great service.

Skip the performance pads and ceramic pads, for street use.

The Axxis Deluxe looks very good and i will probably go ahead and purchase them. However, is there anything that i need to adjust on the car for these pads to work properly. Also, where can i have these pads installed? Do i have to go to a brake place?

Nothing to adjust, but make sure the rotors are in good shape (see the other posts today).

You do need to bed them in after installation...the instructions are on Zeckhausen's site.

You can have them installed at any brake shop. The dealer will likely decline to install them for you, they have a contract that says they sell BMW OEM pads.

I went with Axxiss Deluxe Plus pads recently and they work great. Purchased them from StopTech.

In terms of replacing the pads, have you thought about doing them yourself. Its only a 15-20 min job with minimal tools required. Check out the DIY threads on brakes.

:iagree: It's not a difficult DIY, just dirty, but it took me an hour to do mine and that was with the X completely in the air on a lift.

The Axxis pads from Zeckhausen are nice and no more brake dust:thumbup:
