How would you transport this box in your X
 

I need to move a box, 88" long, 10"x10" W and H. I don't have a roof rack - suggestions? :D

Fold down the rear seat back, pass. side,
move the front pass. seat forward, pop off that
seat headrest and run it in!

Should be no prob., espc. due to the 10x10" W&H...

I've carted 8ft+ 10 x 12s, tall Japanese
Maples, etc., that way.

Rent a panel van for $20 for the day.... why scuff up your interior?

If it was clean, with no sharp edges, I would do exactly as MD said. Works very well. I would add that the front passenger seat squab must be moved completely forward, and the seat back must be completely reclined. Then, the load must be secured so that it doesn't slide into the dash upon braking. Works great, though.

If the load was dirty, or had any sharp edges, I would rent a trailer from U-Haul for $19. Not worth damaging the interior for that price. I use a place down the hill that always has new trailers available, and I can be in and out in 10 minutes.

thx for the feedback. I should have mentioned we're off for a week to the coast so the X has gotta be the ride. I'm taking a power pruner (huge, but new in box) out to the house there, tired of dropping $1K each time the ocean view trees need trimmed. So the wife will be in the passenger seat, little guy in the back. I'll do a test fit today with the method MD describes. I was hoping it may fit in between the two front seats. Maybe I'll have to pull it out of the box and see if that helps - who needs the box anyway!

Yeah...tossing the box should be the tix for tucking it between the seats.
I didn't know you had other people and things in the car, hauling-wise.

Some old car wash towels to wrap the head of the pruner, where it rests in front, should do the job.

I realize we all love our Xs, but I've hauled a lot of stuff in them and the interior has suffered no unseemly
scuffs or scratches. It's a freakin tank!

Agree with MD. Have your wife sit in back instead of passenger. Have the passenger seat recline all the way back with headrest removed. Rear 1/3 seat down. I have moved long boxes that way, no problem. :thumbup:
