BLACKBERRY and X5 BLUETOOTH

Hey All,

I've seen various threads asking about Blackberry compatibility and I wanted to share my experience with it.

I have a 2005 4.8is (stock Bluetooth module and NO nav) and a Blackberry 8700c and yesterday I successfully paired the two together and it works PERFECTLY.

The phonebook even loaded completely and I'm able to access it from the radio, as well as the signal strength and other functions.

Here are the steps I took :

1) turn on ignition to position 1 or higher (I just started the car)
2) from Blackberry, searched for new devices, found BMW and hit add device
3) the Blackberry asked me for the passcode (4-digits) which I found in the owner's manual, a card that had the serial and PK. After I entered it, "LOADING PHONEBOOK" appeared for about 3 minutes and blam, the two were paired.
4) when i get in the car now I hit the telephone button on the radio and it pairs with the blackberry although I've been told this process occurs automatically... HOWEVER, I also have a Motorola Bluetooth headset that I use when i'm out of the car and i've had conflicts before, so just to insure the car pairs I hit the phone button when I turn the car on.

I previously had the Treo 650 and it was terrible, not only because it crashed all the time but the bluetooth SUCKS on Treo's, nobody could ever hear me properly in the car OR on my headset. The Blackberry NEVER crashes, the reception is better, and the bluetooth is GREAT. Loud and clear on both my end and the caller's end.

Just thought I would share!

Ditto for me. I paired my Blackberry 7130e with my 2006 X5 and it works perfectly. Very slick setup.

grab the Zen theme if you haven't already...... makes the BB much easier to set up your own preferences and the menu is a tab sytem down one side.

I have a BB 8700g, paired it no problem, but quite often when I get in the car and it starts pairing my BB crashes and restarts itself for no apparent reason.

:tsk:
