i have 2001 3.0i the clunking noise it fix at the dealer when it still under warrenty.last week i hear it again and the same problem but now it on the ringht side.

I think I may have the same problem, I here it even on gravel, do you guys also feel the feedback on the steering wheel like me?

in my case it was a combination of worn inner tie rods, lower control arm and CV joints.

turn the wheel back and forth with the engine off and listen.

done that. the dealer said its the steering rack that need to be exchanged.
