nav system & cb mag mount antenna ?

I have a 2006 x5 with factory nav system and was wondering if there are any issues with using a magnetic mount cb antenna. I understand the basic concepts of nav system so I know it uses earths magnetic rotation to tell what direction you are traveling in. I just us the cb for trip so not worth permanent antenna mount. Is it ok to use ? if so is there any place I should NOT put it ?

Thanks in advance for the info.

I thought the nav used GPS satellites for direction/location/speed?

had friend that had 5 series sedan with nav that was flaky. dealer said "stop putting your umbrella on shelf behind rear set, it interferes with the magnetic sensor (he had directional issue)". so I assumed mag mount antenna would have same issue. didn't mean to step on anyones technical toes. found answer elsewhere.

I know the GPS units have a gyroscope in them (prob electronic, not physical one), dont know if that uses magnetic field or not. On the X5, the gps antenna is in the rear spoiler, which is plastic so you wouldn`t be able to put your mag mount on there anyway. I dont think it`ll cause a problem to be honest.

GPS is Global Positioning Satellite. GPS uses neither gyroscope or magnetic compass. The GPS receiver locates itself by triangulation of stationary satellites circling the globe. Your magnetic mount should not interfere.

Thats GPS in it`s most basic form. You`ll find the car also uses a wheel speed sensor, reversing signal input and a gyro for accuracy.
