gurgling noise
when i accelerate and am in an enclosed space like a driveway i hear a gurgling sound coming from below the car. On my last car the culprit was the heat shield around the cat, is it possible that thats the cause?
also at speeds 60+ my right side vibrates due to probably the wheel, i dont see a bubble but could it be balance or alingmnet? |
Can't help on the gurgling sound.
A vibration that is caused by balance usually comes in at a certain speed, and you can sometimes make it go away by driving faster, ie it peaks at a specific speed. Sounds like a wheel balance issue to me. First check to see if any weights have fallen off (look for where they used to be, not how many there are). If that doesn't do it, check the steering and front suspension for anything loose/worn that can permit the vibration when the wheel hits a bump and is set off by the bump. Jeff |
thanks, what happened was i hit a bad pot hole the joys of living in nyc, at a pretty decent speed and it wasnt there for a while but then started i checked the rim for cracks or anything and as i said the tire for bumps i'm leaning towards balance was thrown off during the pothole hit.

If you hit something, then you may have damaged the rim itself. That vibration is not as likely to be speed dependent, ie it may be there all the time but just more obvious at high speed.

that i did not want to hear :(

Unfortunately I agree with JCL. Most likely you have a bent rim edge; if you can't notice it on the outer edge it's probably on the inner/hidden edge. Had a similar situation happen to me a week ago; was able to get the rim repaired; balance job done, all seems ok now.
