Self Leveling Suspension inactive
 

This message started yesterday and is now on everytime I start the X - anything I can do to clear it short of a dealer visit (which I will do when I get back from vacation)...

I got it happened on my 06 4.4i on Tuesday. I stopped my car in a shopping mall and removed the key, and I have not seen this since then.

I just had a discussion with the tech and told him that the night I got my X5 back I got the "BMW SUSPENS LEVEL INACTIVE" message thing, he mentioned that this is related to my un-level system.

FYI. this morning my front passenger side was about 2"-3" lower back to its original problem. I suspect this is related to a elec. fault signal they got but the funny thing was that they said after they re-checked it the fault was gone...:rolleyes:

YES the tech said that this is a problem, its going back to the dealer and this will be covered under the CPO:tsk: ...and YES I'm getting a rental car:mad: .

Will keep you posted.

So my X5 has been back to the dealer for the third time now. I'm OK with it because I get a loaner car (2006 325i last time 2006 X5 3.0) Last time they replaced:
front both sides axle sensors - the theory was that the sensor was faulty, it regulates the outside/inside wheel as slow/fast and would adjust
front both sides ride height sensors - regulates when the vehicle is low/high (they did check the air bags and last time set the vehicle to level and reset the "brain")

So this was last week. When I first picked up the vehicle it was fine, the svc tech told me they test drove it and the shop/tech foremen seemed to know his stuff. After driving a couple of days my parking garage guy told me that my X5 seemed to be lower again on the front passenger side...PISSED! I started to test the "axle rubber/grinding thing" it came back.

So it was discussed the grinding sound might be rubbing on/in the fender well but that was not the case.

Currently: they are replacing wheel/rotor sensors same concept slow/fast when turning. The ride height is still a mystery and they get back to me.

I hate that message!!! Two months ago I took my car to the dealer on four occasions!!! My x5 had some real issues though... The dealer replaced (under warranty) the suspension module, some faulty connectors and the air compressor. They also advised me to take out my angelIbrights for a while.
My advice is to have it checked, you never know...good luck :thumbup:

I'll update. The good side...the 3-series is fun to drive but it feels like my walk-in closet...X5 feels like I'm driving my living room...really fast!:rofl:
