defective or bad eyes!?

I had the shield replaced a couple of weeks ago and I think there's a problem with the new one. Could be quality issue (aftermarket glass) or defective glass, or just me - but it doesn't look right. When I try to look sideways out the window the image is distorted, both from driver to passenger and passenger to driver. Further, the glass also appears to 'bend in' at the top of each side, as shown in the following pictures. Does anyone elses X do this??

I've seen that before, even on OEM glass - but I don't have that on my X. I'm guessing you have aftermarket glass there and it's defective. I'd bring it back and demand a replacement w/BMW glass. My old (1980's) GF's car (Chevy Baretta - when's the last time you saw one of those!?) was like that and it drove me crazy... GL Doc!

I don't think there is a direct link with whether or not it is BMW glass. All windshields can have this effect to some extent, but this appears extreme to me. I would take it back, and discuss whether or not it affects your normal line of sight (that is the criteria they will likely use to decide if it is defective or not)

My original driver door glass has the same affect, in the front few inches. In normal use it doesn't bother me, but if there is a vertical line (like a lamp post) visible through that area when I am stopped it is annoying, it attracts the eye as you start to move.

It's defective, Doc...not rare, though.

I'd go back and require they replace it.

Glass is normal, but the seal has a lip on the inside that actually needs to ride on top of the glass, looks like it's tucked in a little. Stick your finger under the seal and you can probably pull it free and the seal will sit more flush and not make the glass apear to bend in at the top.

I gotta disagree with The Cleaner...I don't
have that distortion in the edge/frame in
the X, the Vette, or my CEO's pos Honda CR-V
or any of the past dozen cars I've owned, except
when I had one cheapazz replacement windshield
done on a company car.

The distortion may be due to the poor "seating",
but that readily apparent distortion/wiggle is bs, imo.
Go get'em Doc!

I had a windshield installed on my Expedition a few years back. Went through 3 different ones before I left the shop with a good one!!!!
