I did see that system. I am hoping to get the adapter as a direct replacment being the X5 is already wired for sound.
I'm trying to get in touch with Motorola's Tech Staff in Florida to see if they can either rewire the adapter for my phone with BMW plugs or supply the wiring diagram for the adapter as is. I already have the wiring diagrams for the BMW set up. The adapter for my phone, as supplied for this system, has a RCA jack for the antenna and a serial plug for the connection to the system. If the BMW system can recognize the phone, it should be a snap to rewire. If not I guess I be splicing in the new system to the already fitted hardware. PS. SuperGreg, you can sit back down now. I think there is enough evil in this world for more than one super hero. I'm not trying to rain on your rein. |

You see that is where I think the problem lies. I've been running around the house in my underwear and a cape with an "S" on it since the 1960's. My username has nothing to do with you.
I'm just trying to use this forum to give and receive information on a new to me X5. |

Really? how could an imposter strive to equal or match (Emulate) Supergreg. Do you actually believe you could possibly imitate reproduce someone's behavior? Not on your life. Supergreg is our hero  Your right though that is where the problem lies. Around here you gotta earn that S. It isn't enough to run around the house in your underwear with a cape with an "S" on it since the 1960's. The thought of that makes me shudder in disbelief. To earn that S You gotta be able to solve X5 problems in a single bound. Be able to leap tall questions by newbies without hesitation. You get the idea HUH??? :nanana: Any way I couldn't resist. :xoutpost: :band:

Thanks for the welcome aboard. . . I think.
But seriously, can anyone help me with my original question? |
I don't mean to give you a hard time, but... wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to just get a newer phone that is bluetooth compliant? The phones are so cheap now and the the special kit you are looking for is likely to be "uncheap".

If i understand the question correctly you want to wire in your nextel phone to Charge it up?:confused:To get the X5 recognize it? ( In what way? . So you can dial out). If thats the case i guess your doing this as a challenge just to see if it will work? Or it's cheaper? I'm not sure. But it sounds like a lot of work. I have had Nextel for years so I would be interested where your going with this. Sorry I don't have an answer and I hope someone can help you but I gotta be honest from your description I'm kinda confused as to what your trying to accomplish.

<<I think Nextel's Bluetooth is around $300.00>>
Ouch. I have a couple of renewals on my desk for Sony Ericsson and Motorola for $25 and $60, just for signing a new 2 year contract. Both are Bluetooth. So I guess the cell phone business works differently where you are! in any case the convenience of the Bluetooth technology makes any cost differential well worth it to me. John |

Actually that depends on where and how you purchase. http://www.phonedog.com/cell-phone-s...-specials.aspx The i870 and the Blackberry can both be purchased for less.

Michelle. I think it's maybe an area thing for some folks but Nextel at least for me has always worked consistantly. Right now i'm using verizon and where i am Nextel works much better. Add to that world wide direct connect and it was hard for me to change. I still might go back back because even though they are a bit more monthly i just never had any problem getting a signal, no problem with the handset's, and no problem with customer service. But that just my experience.

The phone I have is the i850. It is a relative new phone (only a week old to me). The only BT phone I can get from Nextel is $249.95. Also my 2001 X5 is not BT. In order to make a BT connection I would have to buy a BT phone and some kind of adapter for the X5 (If i'm able). Not cheap!
What I am trying to do is either get a different ejection box with the correct coiled wire or an adapter for the end of the coiled wire to change it to fit my phone. The vehicle is wired for a phone (mic, steering wheel buttons, ect,...) so I would like to make it a neat installation. |
There are better prices for a Netel phone http://www.phonedog.com/cell-phone-s...-specials.aspx Also many folks just get a Bluetooth head set. It's a better option. Finally I've never heard of an "ejection box" so maybe you can bring me up to date with that.

I also agree with Barry. In this area Nextel is untouchable as far as quality and dropped calls. I have tried every service out there over the past 7 years. The plan I have is very reasonable also. 1000 mins/month, free long distance, unlimited direct connect, ability to walkie talkie off network if needed, unlimited nights and weekends. . . .$39.99/month and free i850. For At&t, verison, cingular and t-mobile I paid twice that and had to make twice the calls because they continously dropped calls.

The ejection box is the box in the arm rest that the phone sits in. It is molded to the phone and can eject (stand up).

Got it. Thanks

I e-mailed Motorola. You guessed it. They "can't rewire the proper box; but, they can sell me a new system which will work for my phone and can be "adapted" to the X5. AUGH!
