I was planning on doing the cooling system soon including VP gasket. It seems there is a mysterious coolant leak alot. Could it always be the valley pan gasket?

I recommend getting your oil analyzed. Blackstone Labs will do it for $22.50. They will tell you if you have any coolant in your oil, which would indicate you have an internal engine issue. Here is a thread from m3forum.net that shows the dude's response from the lab.
