Valve gasket leak...

how serious is this problem??? went to the dealer told me there was a very small leak right now should i fix it at the dealer or is there a cheaper way to do so they quoted me at 550 plus tax

Take it to an indie shop. They'll probably charge you half what the dealer charges.

minor problem, most will leak after 70-80k (on the 3.0's anyway). It's a 1.5 hour job at most.

do i have to fix it or can i just leave it????

chroniclivin 08-21-2006 12:50 PM

Chroniclinvin,

Why your pcv valve need to be fixed? What the cause? I replaced two on my old car ls400 and montero sport, it costs only $20 for parts.

Fix it eventually, sooner than later also. But it's not a 550.00 dollar job, about 200.00 including parts.

Just had mine replaced today. $120 at a private shop in CT.

you have 3.0, right? I don't think any indy shop would do 4.4 valve cover gasket for $120 only.
