Say hi to a noob...

Hi, i'm a Norvegian, currently a E90 owner, but i've really wanted a X5 for some time now.
I guess it's about time to do something about that.
I'm looking for import of a X5, primary from U.S, because of a huge marked.
But you guys doesn't seem to have X5 with diesel.
Anyway, does anyone have the video of the X5 with the Le mans engine?
Thanx in advance!
:beerchug:

Well, the duty and or cost of a X5 in Norway, you don't wanna know, it's insane to tell the truth.
The new X5, are estimated to cost from aprx 900.000.-Nkr, that's over 110.000.- Euros, and in USD it's about 128.000.-
And that's the 3.0 base price...

So i think a facelift 3.0 are enough for me, (09.03---)
But to bad it's no diesel powered X5 in US.

Thanx for all the welcome's, nice to be here.
;)

As bad as it is in Norway - I think Denmark got it worse

When we got our X5 4.4i in the US i believe the final price was $58.000. Just for the fun of it I asked a dealer in Denmark for a price on the same spec - he came up with an offer of 1.500.000 danish kroner - that is about 255.000 dollars :)

To compare apples to oranges - you can buy a 3.000 sq/ft house in a nice neighbourhood in Denmark for 1.5m dkr :) To own a BMW X5 4.4 in Denmark is relativly speaking the same kind of investment as owning two ferraris here in the US - seeing how a 3.000 sq/ft home in a nice neighbourhood outside chicago is ~$450.000.

There are sensible means though - you can have the 3.0 dielsel as a 2-seater (van) for ~450.000 dkr (~$75.000) if you use it as a registered corporate car. How they get the thing turned into a Van is beyond me - but hey - it would be a nice van inded :)

Heh,

Yeah no country in the world has it as bad as Denmark ...

Its easy really, they take out the back seat, slap a metal floor all the way to the trunk, and put on yellow plates on it (that means its a loading vehicle and not a passenger vehicle)

Ron Jeremy: Wouldn't it be much cheaper to buy a diesel one in germany and just drive it to norway ??

I don't think cheap, is a word i would use in this matter
The thing is, a X5 is much cheaper in US, than in Germany, the marked is so much bigger, so one can really pick the "one", if you know what i mean?
;)
But then i'll have to settle for a 3.0i, which is not a bad alternative, but aftermarked for such a SAV in Norway is minor, our marked are screaming for a diesel engine in these kind of cars.
So i guess i'll wait for E70 to hit the marked, and then buy a facelift 04 model of E53.

Btw, Denmark and Norway have very similar, or shall i say, dumb taxes, so a SUV are suffering heavy because of this.
In Sweden, cars cost half of what it does on Norway and Denmark.
;puke;

This is all of course because the women up there are so beautiful.. You have to pay for something...

I don't know how it is in Norway - but if I understand it right about importing cars to Denmark you get quoted an estimated worth of the car when registrering it, and then you are taxed the 180%, or however much it is, on that amount. Don't know if it is done the same in Norway - but it might be something to look into. Then again - I could be mistaken in everything i say ... listening to me is a little like gambling I supose :)

Funny side note - because the taxes are so high in Denmark, the dealers sell the cars at very cheap base prices to compensate (a little) for the Tax. That means it is cheaper for, say a German, to buy a car in Denmark and take it to Germany, than to buy it in Germany. Since they dont have the same luxury taxation-nonsense, and since they don't pay the tax for registrering it in Denmark they end up saving money.

No-one imports to Ireland, the amount of import tax you pay is not based on what you paid for the car abroad, its based on what Irish customs and excise say you should have paid.

Hmm..I wonder if its the same here in England..I am putting my X on the AutoTrader today or tomorrow, but I have to get a tax assesment from the DVLA here..Unfortunately, the car has to be sold within 30 days of getting the assesment, but Im not sure what (which) price it will be based on..:dunno:

Donegal TDI 08-31-2006 11:39 AM

See the way the Irish system works here.
99.99% of people use this for 2nd hand cars,
almost never for newer.
You quote the make model year and mileage of your vehicle,
and they say what you should have paid for it.
Try it out and see. :)
