Rear Trunk Flap Removal

Does anybody now how to remove the rear trunk flap? Let me explain, in the trunk, there is the rear gate or whatever, and then connecting the trunk to the gate when the gate is down is a flap. That connects to a long strip that holds on the rear pillars. Does anyone know how to remove this?

Thanks,
Dave

Not sure why you want to remove it, but this blk plastic piece does fold up. I simply held it up when I had to run some wiring underneath...

It's holding in the rear pillar cover. I am clearing out all the wiring I had from a previous installer, cleaning out the trunk and starting fresh with new wiring. So I need to remove the rear pillar cover, to remove the side covering

Been looking for this info. Found instructions with pics at pelican.

It's in the Avin 2 install thread also. I have to check it actually to see if photobucket took down the images.

It did. Why do you use photobucket or pic hosting sites for that matter? Just attach the pics in your post and they will always be available. You just have to reduce the size using apps such as mspaint (preinstalled with windows or mac os), etc. I have posts as old as 15 years with pics. Just saying and my .2 cents ….

And don't forget that there's the TIS website. You can type in the last 7 digits of your VIN...then type a key search word or phrase into the search box and see if you can get results that instruct on how to remove whatever it was that you wanted to remove.

Yeah, I also have the X5 Bentley manual - both don't have instructions on how to remove the tailgate flap trims. They do have instructions on how to remove the tailgate itself, lock and the shocks.

Main reason is I hate (like full on despise with the fire of a thousand suns) small, no detail, images for DIY's. It pained me using small images for the pdf write up. PB was good for 10 years before a year or so ago. *shrug* I'd like to host my own images really, but switched to using postimg for the time being.
