brake/rotor change
 

So i got my brake pads changed at 25k to Axxis ultimate brake pads.

The shop said that my front rotors are out of spec and need to be replaced. Got me wonderin.. wont my rear rotors go out in a little bit since my fronts are out?? Or will they last for another year maybe..?

The front brakes usually do most of the work so that's not suprising. Best to monitor the rear rotor thickness and compare it to the minimum thickness that's stamped on the rotor hat. Ask the shop what the measurement was compared to the spec on the rear and you'll have an idea of when you need to check it again.

who did your brakes? i gotta get mine done too.

do em yourself man save a ton its really easy get the DIY page up and just stand by that thing.

hi i have 2001 X5 4.4i with 40k it has a bad shake in the steering wheel when braking from high speed for couple of seconds,i put new roters in the front all tires are in good condtion, also i noticed while driving over 100k/h right front seat has a shake any suggestions thank u.

The fronts are relatively simple enough, but how difficult is it for the rear since the parking/e-brake is wired into the rears? Any special instructions if the e-brake needs adjustment?

the parking brake is seperate from the rear calipers. they have shoes that press onto the inside rotor hat. I believe there's a turn bucket there for adjustment (on each side).

just makesure you don't pull up the rear brake if you are replacing your rear rotors.

brakes are an easy DIY. Make sure you have a small sledgehammer it makes rotor removal easier.
