Quick Tread Depth Question

Looking to buy a set of rears from a guy and he says they have 5-6/32nd left. I plan on putting Toyo's on in the Fall yet my current rears (20's) are at the wear bar.

Is this a decent amount of tread?

Original tread depth was probably around 10/32 to 12/32, so there's about 50% tread left (although you never go down to zero). Factor into the price the cost to mount/balance the tires in order to determine if it's a good deal or not.

Tolerable and acceptable tread depth, imo, espc. in light of your intended time table for replacment, IF you don't plan on huge mileage between now and "fall redo". Some sites would claim that 5/32 is about min for a used tire in service. Most states let one slide to 3 or 2/32nds, but I wouldn't drive anywhere w/that tread min #.

I'd push for a real deal w/that tread life, remaining. GL,md
