I've heard the Pirelli Ice and Snows are good. I'd go with something smaller than 20''s though.

do yall just not like the looks of the 20's or do you worry about the potholes? I drove it all last winter with the setup i have now with no pothole related problems, just had that feeling you get when your walking on ice.....

Since I have 20 inchers on my vehicle now, it's not that...

Snow and slush can hide some awful surprises (potholes etc) and it is easy to do terminal damage to a 20 inch rim. In any event you want a narrower tire in the snow for traction and stability together with the larger rubber section height to protect from sliding into curbs and stuff.

I've been looking for a set of 17" winter tires and rims in the region but haven't had any luck yet. MD, whatever happened to your set?

I wish I had 20's with Pirelli's all the way around now for winter. They would look a whole lot better on my 4.6is than my 18's. I was wary when he went 275/40/20's all the way around with Pirelli Ice and Snows but after all the snow we had last year in the mountains it wasn't a problem.

wow, I didnt know that snow tires need to be wider. LOL im new to all this, I move up here 2 years ago from alabama. I just hate for my x5 to look like all the other out there.....
