Need advice on CPO X5
 

Ok, I found a nicely maintained CPO

2003 x5 3.0i, automatic, black on black
prem pack
xenon
rear climate pack


Its got 44K miles on it but the car is new looking on the inside. It's interior still smells new. The rear seats were never used seems like.

What I need to hear is what are your opinions regarding the mileage? Is it too much? How many miles can I get out of this car? Should I wait to look for less mileage?

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

One thing to note. BMW's can be driven a few months ahead of their year designation. My 03 was built 09/02 and registered a month or so later. I bought it used in August of 2004 with 19K on the ODO for $40K. It was almost two years old even though its an 03. I knew my driving was low (7.5K avg per yr) so it will balance out in time (now at 38k).

The main thing in my opinion is WARRANTY COVERAGE! If it's CPO and coverage is good (6/100, etc), you should be fine. If you feel the price is right then go for it.

BTW, mine was loaded with NAV, SPORT, Rear Climate, Premium and Cold Weather packages (No DSP or PDC) and I bought it from a used car dealer. It had the 4yr/50K warranty and maintenance coverage so I jumped on it.

One more note, I love my NAV! I am glad I waited and found an X that had one.:thumbup:

I'd say 44k miles for BMW is only warm-up and here in US people seem to be too scared if the car has 50k miles on it. In Europe they consider car to be high mileage if it has over 100k miles. Sure, when car hits 100k miles you may need to renew brakes and shocks and so on, but those are pretty small things as transmission, engine and body lasts a lot longer than that.

Anything I should watch out for on this car in particular?

When do the shocks/suspension components start to wear out?

I would keep looking. You should be able to get a facelifted one with a CPO for cheap. Be patient. The prices are dropping fast.
