fingerprints/oil on navi screen.

'03 X5 4.4 with widescreen navi screen. I have some fingerprints on there that just won't go away with water. It seems like some kind of oil that won't wipe away. I'm scared to use anything else in fear of further creating permanent marks. How do you drivers clean your navi screens/remove fingerprints/dirt?

I've been using a slightly damp micro-fiber towel. Has worked great so far.:)

There are all kinds of expensive cleaners for computer monitor screens etc. I found what works the best by far is a simple eye-glass cleaner spray & cloth.

Spray it lightly on the screen from a distance and use the soft cloth to clean and buff. You'll be surprised how well it works!

I actually have an eye-glass cleaner kit in all my cars ...works great for the NAV screens and my glasses!

Also, wipe only horizontally. Has something to do with "grain" of an LCD panel. One of my IT guys told me this for LCD screens on laptops and it does seems to clean better than vertical or circular strokes.

I use Monster iClean. It's for all electronic displays. It's a spray and a special towel. Works amazingly well and doesn't seem to make a difference which way it's applied.

I second the vote for eyeglass cleaner (the type suitable for anti-reflective coatings) and a microfibre cloth. Works fantastic, cheap and is available EVERYWHERE.

I also keep a kit in both vehicles and use it to clean LCD screens (nav and dvd) and the clear plastic for the instrument panels.

We have a specific cleaner for this - it's all I'll use on my NAV screen.

OmniCleanz

The package comes with the cleaning solution and optex polishing cloth, a kit stays in the glovebox at all times. :)

I use the Microfiber cloth included with the Sony PSP, it works great, I don't need any solvents...

Tom, I just went to your website to order the Omni Cleanz. I was a bit surprised to see shipping will cost $10.80 to Florida for a $10 bottle of Omni Cleanz?? Isn't the shipping a bit high? Mind you I have no problem paying 10 bucks for a drink at a bar and I want to buy the cleaner but on principle I cannot pay 100% shipping!

It shouldn't be. PM me your zip code and I'll look it up for you.
