Removal of door lock cover (pics)
 

Here a little Mod I did today, very cheap but IMO makes a big difference to the look of the X. The lock is underneath the cover and I did a spare in case I break the one on if I need to access with the key. It might help as a theft deterrent as well, who knows.

Recently replaced mine as well...bought the keyhole cover from the dealer, primed and painted myself. The hardest part was getting the old cover off!!

Looks well as well but surprised, assuming your serious about hardest part was changing it, I just dropped out the hex bolt, pushed out the barrel and original lock cover, took off the old cover and replaced with the full cover, pushed lock barrel back in and did up the hex bolt, it all took two minutes.

Not on mine, I removed the hex bolt and it would not slide out. I'm no dummy either, I've been tinkering with cars for years as a second hobby...installed numerous mods all on my own such as headers on my z06, exhaust, and and ton of other things over the years. With the hex bolt out, the entire housing wouldn't move out more than 2mm. Maybe US Specs cars are slightly different and they made it harder to yank out the lock?

Oh well, maybe if we ever meet up (if I ever travel to the UK) you can show me how it's supposed to be done in case I need to do it again. :)

hi, i will bring this thread up.

my cilinder was broken (smn tried to break in i guess), now the key can be turnen freely in the cilinder but nothing happens. actually there is no cilinder, there is just a hole. and it looks ugly.

is there a DIY guide on how to put a cover over?
