2000 is first year model so it has its first year bugs. But they must have all surfaced by now. Good luck. |

One of my favorite mods is the M steering wheel. I also love the Dension IceLink Plus to integrate my iPod in the vehicle.

Congrat on your new purchase. I do have the same car (2000 4.4l sport package) with 81k miles. This car still drives and looks like brand new. I had several issues between 55k and 65k (Radiator, Water pump, Final stage resistor, Window regulator, Control arm, etc...all fixed under the extended warranty) but since that not one single problem.
As LeMansX5 said at that mileage a lot of the known issues of this model should have surfaced by now. However, if you have the possibility to buy a good extended warranty I would strongly suggest to do so. It also pays off to do some of the work by yourself if you have some manual skills. For a lot of things you do not need to be an expert mechanic. For example a brake job done by yourself can save you a lot of money and this Web site will be there to help you. Enjoy the ride. |
Congratulations!

I have a 2000 x5 4.4 Topaz Blue - 66,000 miles. At my own expense, I've replaced 2 front outer cv boots, radiator, few coolant hoses, expansion tank. Under warranty, a window regulator, dead pixel issue, battery, rear hatch, door handles. I bought a window regulator, but I managed to "fix" my window issue. I am on my second Diamaris set (19) ans second brake change. Original rotors - will replace at next brake job. Weekly, I check the water pump for any signs of leaks -- just in case. I am planning on replacing it soon. I think I need new head gasket - seems like its leaking slightly. I am going to re-torque the nuts meanwhile. I may have leakage at a steering hose. All in all, it drives like new and it feels very solid - very safe. Still gets lots of compliments. People think it's newer.
Again, Congratulations and have fun. ps: no mods , all stock. |
