Who else has the clicking in the steering column?

The one that you only feel when your car is not moving? This is another one the dealer claims is normal, but there is no chance that’s the case. Anyone find the cause yet? It appears to be between the steering wheel and the universal joint on the steering linkage . I replaced the linkage joint to eliminate that one, so it’s for sure in the 2-3 feet between the steering wheel and the joint.

Do you mean when the car is not moving/running and you move the wheel side to side that clack that sounds like a bad/sloppy u-joint or tie rod end?

When I had it the front end (control arms, bushings etc.) was rebuilt.

I can't believe w/only 17K I need a front end rebuild...anyone else have this and get it fixed?

Got it, but only intermittently. I will wait until it becomes more frequent and take it to the dealer.

From reading the boards it seems that 15K - 17K front end rebuilds are common. This means I'm about due!

I have replaced the entire front end on my rig and that click is still there, dealer even replaced the rack and it's still there. I think it's the steering column bearing retainer, but thats a real pain to replace so they are stalling me.

Ouch! Sound like a fight if dealer does not want to do it.
