60K mile service caused problems?
 

Hi, I have a 2002 X5 with the 4.4 engine and around 60,000 miles. I just had the 60k service done, and when i picked up the car the AC blower would not work. It never had a problem before. I replaced the final stage capacitor and now it works. Also intermitently the navigation screen will turn off, then turn back on and have the click through screen like when the car is first started. It happened for the first time the day after the service. Now my coolant is leaking. I noticed it about a week after the service, the first time it has ever leaked. I am not sure exactly what is done on the 60k service, but is it possible they broke all this stuff? Do they even touch any of this stuff? They also flushed the coolant, so that might have caused the leak. I am tired of paying for stuff that the dealer breaks (they bent one of my rims when i was having the brakes done last year, broke the rain sensor in the windshield, etc... 3 diferent dealers so far) It seems suspicious that these 3 new issues all started imediately after the service, when none of it had ever happened even once before.

edit: Update

OK now it is spitting ATF out of the resivoir and i squeezed the big hose from the engine block to the radiator and it is squishy and full of air. any ideas?

OK i feel a little stupid, i saw where the cap said "atf oil only" and assumed it was tranny fluid, but in fact i learned from searching this site that it is the power steering reservoir. So it is the power steering reservoir that is leaking from the cap. Anyone know why it would be doing that?

Norcal: It might help if you provided some info as to where your located and where you got your car serviced. ( Which dealer) Perhaps someone could better access the libility issue.

I think it was over filled, the cap was loose or may spilled from someone who add more fuild to it. Just clean up the mess and see if it still leaks? Also, check your fuild level and make sure it is not over filled.
The oil in the container constantly circulating when your vehicle is moving or wheel is turning. To prevent from leaking you need to keep your fluid no more than full and cap is tight.

chubyball, thanks, but do you know what full is? I can not even find mention of the power steering reservoir in the manual, and the cap has a stem that goes down into the reservoir with a couple markings on it. Which is it supposed to be at and is it supposed to be checked cold or hot?

Power steering is simply checked with the engine running. Cold or hot should matter much with that fluid.

I think the power steering was over filled... I remeber seeing that the cap has a overfill hole that allows it to leak out

More questions
 

OK so the power steering is checked running, but how high is it supposed to go on the dip stick thing on the bottom of the cap? It is leaking around the sides from where the cap seals, not from the top. Also how can you tell if the water pump is bad? There is no pressure in the hoses that i can reach to squeeze, but could that be because they are all delivery ones and the thermostat is closed? There is no visbile leak, it just keeps running out of water. No smoke, no milk in the oil, just no pressure.
